Rubin Ultra Average Selling Price Nears $170,000, Memory Costs Account for Half
The average selling price of NVIDIA's Rubin Ultra dual GPU version is expected to approach $170,000. Analysis suggests that the 4 GPU version could rise to $350,000. ABMedia cited a report from Aletheia Capital stating that the price of Rubin Ultra could be about 30% higher than the previous generation. Memory costs account for more than 51% of the total cost, and SoCAAM technology is being used as the standard for low-power memory modules in data centers. The share of SoCAAM has increased from 20% in the GB300 generation to 45% in Rubin and over 51% in the Rubin Ultra dual GPU version. The share of HBM has decreased from 27% to 20-21%, but an upgrade in specifications from HBM3E to HBM4 and HBM4E is anticipated. NVIDIA has stated that the Rubin GPU offers up to 288GB of HBM4 and a bandwidth of up to 22TB/s. The final specifications of Rubin Ultra have not yet been confirmed, and some configurations are testing 192GB or 256GB of memory with HBM4. The reasons for the price increase have not all been disclosed, and in the AI accelerator market, factors such as chip prices, power, network bandwidth, and memory capacity also impact competitiveness.
