Mark Cuban Sees AI Chips as a New Investment Frontier
Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban stated that advanced chips powering artificial intelligence systems could represent a new asset class beyond Bitcoin and blockchain. Cuban emphasized the critical role of high-performance GPUs in training and running AI models. He expressed that traditionally depreciating computer hardware has become an investable area due to the rising demand for artificial intelligence. This announcement quickly resonated within cryptocurrency circles. Bitcoin advocate Pierre Rochard noted that chip production is not linked to Bitcoin's fundamental mechanisms. Some users interpreted Cuban's comments as a sign that the bear market is nearing its end. Cuban had previously taken a cautious stance towards Bitcoin, likening it to collectible items in 2019. However, his approach to cryptocurrencies has changed in recent years. Recognizing the advantages offered by Ethereum's smart contracts, Cuban had also described Bitcoin as a safe haven. Recently, he expressed disappointment that Bitcoin has lost its direction and does not provide protection against macro risks. Cuban revealed that he sold a significant portion of his Bitcoin holdings in May, a decision he made because Bitcoin did not function as a macro hedge.
