Axel Kicillof stated that family indebtedness is a "massive disaster" created by the national government
The governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, asserted that the indebtedness of Argentine families is due to "a massive disaster created by the government of Javier Milei" and questioned the President's statements by stating that "one must be very cruel and completely detached from the people to claim" that it is an individual problem.
"The President says that family indebtedness is a personal problem: one must be very cruel and completely detached from the people to assert something like that. If millions have the same problem, it is not a micro or individual issue, it is a massive disaster created by the government of Javier Milei. This macroeconomics, which they say is orderly, does not work for the workers: today people have salaries that are not enough and go into debt to pay for rent, food, and the most essential things," the provincial leader stated.
Kicillof made these statements during an event where he inaugurated the Multipurpose Room (SUM) of the Longchamps Community Integration Center and led the delivery of 1,521 free deeds for families in the Almirante Brown district.
The governor was accompanied by the ministers of Community Development, Andrés Larroque, and of Justice and Human Rights, Juan Martín Mena; provincial deputy Mariano Cascallares; and the local mayor, Juan José Fabiani.
During the event, Kicillof pointed out that "the decision to bring infrastructure and the works that are needed to each neighborhood is an unbreakable commitment that the provincial government has with its people" and added that the new SUM and the delivery of deeds "are clear signs of a present management that does not look the other way."
In this context, he again questioned the national economic policy by stating that "when so many people are experiencing the same thing, it is not a micro or personal case: what does not work in Argentina is this economic project that benefits a few and leaves the great majorities out".
The new facilities of the Community Integration Center required a provincial investment of $725 million and will allow for the development of job training, sports and cultural activities, school support days, and the operation of the Envión program. Additionally, the municipality joined the "Free and Protagonists" program, promoted by the Provincial Agency for Childhood and Adolescence to promote the training of young people with a gender perspective.
For his part, Larroque stated that the new space "is the result of an immense effort made by the province of Buenos Aires to continue supporting the neighbors in a very complicated context due to national policies" and assured that the Buenos Aires government maintains public works "despite the fact that they take away the resources that correspond to us."
Meanwhile, Mena highlighted that the "My Deed, My House" program was created "to address one of the greatest inequalities that existed in our province" and to guarantee access to the right of property.
In turn, Cascallares stated that both the new community space and the free deeds "are signs of a management model that thinks of the people," while Fabiani emphasized the joint work between the municipality and the Province "to prioritize the needs of the neighbors."
At the end of the event, Kicillof stated that "in the face of a national government that seeks to hand over our lands to favor large foreign businesses, we demonstrate that with a present State we can fulfill the rights of thousands of families" and concluded that "the situation in our country is resolved by fundamentally changing the economic policy and setting priorities where they should be: first work, health, education, and the well-being of families in the neighborhoods."
