Zhipu's User Base Approaches 7 Million, Activates Over 50,000 Domestic AI Chips
Zhipu's MaaS open platform has nearly 7 million registered users, an increase of about 2 million since early July, with the number of enterprise clients reaching 23,000. The developer product ZCode surpassed 1 million users within a month of its launch. Zhipu's ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) has grown approximately 15 times this year, with the current ARR potentially reaching $2 billion, though this has not yet been officially confirmed. To meet the growing demand for model calls, Zhipu has activated over 50,000 domestic AI computing chips to alleviate inference demand. Market rumors suggest that Zhipu has built domestic AI computing infrastructure with a scale of 1GW. Zhipu's growth is primarily driven by demand in programming scenarios; after the release of the GLM-5 model, API services have become a core source of revenue. Zhipu continues to optimize inference efficiency by enhancing computing power utilization through technologies such as KV cache splitting and inference network architecture. In July, it launched a high-speed version of the API, achieving a token generation rate of 400 per second, an approximately 8-fold speed increase; on July 31, it reopened the purchase of the Coding Plan, with the Lite version's monthly fee rising to 118 yuan. Industry insiders believe that optimizing inference efficiency will become a core competitive advantage for large model companies. The ability to generate more tokens under the same computing power will provide an edge in terms of cost and commercialization. Currently, Chinese large model companies such as Zhipu, Kimi, and DeepSeek are facing computing power bottlenecks and competitive pressures from models. The market expects several companies to launch new generation models in August, intensifying competition in the AI large model sector.
