Over 40 Organizations Call for AI Labs to Grant Model Access to Bitcoin Defenders
The Bitcoin Policy Institute, along with a coalition of over 40 organizations, is urging leading AI labs to provide trusted access to their state-of-the-art AI models for qualified open-source security defenders. The open letter highlights that Bitcoin and digital asset developers are facing increasingly complex AI-driven cyber threats, and legitimate security research is often hindered by cutting-edge model security mechanisms. Signatories include Block, Coinbase, Strategy, MARA, Galaxy, BitGo, Brink, OpenSats, Chaincode Labs, Spiral, Trezor, Unchained, among others, calling for early access to cutting-edge cybersecurity models, sufficient computational power, secure research environments, and the establishment of direct communication channels with AI lab security teams. The open letter emphasizes that defenders need access to cutting-edge technology and calls for them to be given a fair first-mover advantage.
