The Odyssey Surpasses 600 Million Dollars and Becomes Nolan's Highest-Grossing Film
The Odyssey, the new film by Christopher Nolan, has surpassed 600 million dollars at the global box office, reaching 639.6 million dollars in just ten days since its release. Of this amount, 286.4 million dollars correspond to the markets of the United States and Canada. The film debuted with 123.5 million dollars in the U.S. and earned another 87 million in its second weekend, with a 30% drop compared to its opening. This performance is remarkable for an adult-rated blockbuster and marks the best second weekend for an R-rated film since Deadpool & Wolverine. Additionally, it set a record for box office earnings in the second weekend for a Nolan film, surpassing the 75 million dollars of The Dark Knight in 2008. The Odyssey, filmed entirely with IMAX cameras, generated 140 million dollars in this format and reached 100 million dollars in just ten days, becoming the second fastest production to achieve this. In Argentina, it sold over 76,000 tickets in its first two days. The film has yet to be released in key markets such as Japan and China, suggesting that its global earnings will continue to rise. With 639.6 million dollars, The Odyssey is the best opening in Nolan's filmography, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises, which earned 537.3 million dollars.
