Nexo has appointed Andrés Ondarra as the new general manager for Argentina, a position he will assume on August 1. Ondarra, with over 25 years of experience in traditional finance, fintech, and the crypto ecosystem in Latin America, replaces Federico Ogue, the current CEO of Nexo in Argentina. Between July 2022 and June 2025, Argentina moved nearly $93.9 billion in digital asset transactions, the second highest volume in Latin America after Brazil. 74.3% of Argentine investors own digital assets, the highest proportion among all markets, and 62.9% have reduced their holdings in traditional assets to invest in cryptocurrencies. Nexo will continue to invest in local infrastructure and will launch the Nexo Card, a debit and credit card on the Mastercard network, allowing users to use their digital assets for payments and access credit without selling their holdings. Balances in the app generate up to 13% annual interest. The partnership with DragonPass will provide access to VIP lounges at airports and other travel benefits. Ondarra emphasized the importance of the Nexo Card for Argentines to effectively use their digital assets.
