Ministry of Defense Changes Food Procurement System for Armed Forces

The Ministry of Defense and the State Defense Procurement Agency are changing the food supply system for the military. Products will be checked at distribution centers before delivery to military units, and the procurement of food and logistics services will be separated. Products must be supplied by individual producers, while logistics operators will handle the delivery. This is expected to enhance competition and make pricing more transparent. Quality control will be moved to the stage before products are sent to military units. Food will be checked at distribution centers to avoid the supply of substandard products. The next stage of the reform is transitioning from ordering individual products to ordering meals through the DOT-Chain Food system, which will automatically calculate the necessary amount of ingredients. The first purchases under the new model are planned for 2026, initially in several regions, with subsequent expansion. In 2025, the State Defense Procurement Agency saved 15.6 billion UAH through competitive procurement, which was used to support the military.
