Ukraine's National Debt Reaches 9.49 Trillion UAH, Interest Rate Decreases and Maturity Period Extends
As of the end of June, Ukraine's state and guaranteed debt amounted to 9.49 trillion UAH, or 211.6 billion USD. Over the month, the debt increased by 173.9 billion UAH due to financing from the European Union and the World Bank to cover budgetary needs during the war. Since the beginning of 2026, the debt in UAH equivalent has grown by 448.1 billion UAH, while in USD terms it has decreased by 1.7 billion USD due to currency exchange rate changes. The European Union remains the largest creditor, accounting for 39.1% of the debt. The share of concessional loans is 66.4%, allowing Ukraine to receive financing for extended periods at low interest rates. The weighted average interest rate on the national debt decreased from 4.5% in June 2025 to 4.43% at the beginning of summer 2026, while the average maturity period increased from 12.1 to 13.15 years. Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine has reduced its debt by 190 million euros, maintaining controlled debt dynamics even amid the war.
