Ukraine Agrees with the US on Monthly Deliveries of Patriot Missiles

Ukraine has agreements with the United States for monthly deliveries of missiles for Patriot systems; however, the current volumes are insufficient for air defense needs. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the existence of these agreements during a press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade. He noted that the number of available missiles has significantly decreased compared to 2025. Germany and Poland may also participate in the deliveries, while assistance to Ukraine is being provided by the Netherlands and Northern European countries. Zelensky added that South Korea and Japan could potentially help, but their legislation restricts transfers. Ukraine is negotiating with Israel regarding air defense systems. In April 2025, Zelensky spoke about the need for ten additional systems, and in November of the same year, he announced plans to order 25 Patriot systems from the US. These systems are necessary for the protection of cities and energy infrastructure; however, even ten batteries will not cover the entire country. In July 2026, Zelensky requested 300 interceptors by winter, as Russia is launching 30-40 ballistic missiles in a single strike. The promise from US President Donald Trump to produce Patriot missiles in Ukraine is an important political signal but will not solve the shortage problem in the short term.
