Bitcoin ETF call options surge 24-fold to 1.95M shares, puts drop 52.75%
UBS Group's regulatory filing on August 13 revealed that call options on BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) increased to 1.95 million shares in the second quarter, a rise of 2,337.5% from 80,000 shares at the end of March. The filing, accepted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, covered positions as of June 30. UBS's non-option share position also grew, from 364,371 shares at March 31 to 407,890 shares, an increase of 43,519 shares or 11.94%. In contrast, the underlying shares for put options fell from 303,300 to 143,300, marking a 52.75% decrease. The second-quarter table assigned a market value of 64.9 million dollars to the call options and 4.8 million dollars to the put options. The filing does not disclose the premium, strike, expiry, or profit and loss of the options. The positions were dated June 30, over six weeks before the filing was made public, and any subsequent changes are not included in the disclosure.
