Serenity Highlights Patience as a Key Factor in Optical Communication Volatility, Low-Frequency Traders Outperform Frequent Traders
On August 10, Serenity stated that as stocks related to optical communication, such as Sivers, OE Solutions, LITE, Coherent, and AAOI, become active, the market enters a phase of high volatility. Historical research shows that investors who perform better over the long term are typically not frequent traders. Serenity cites studies from Fidelity and the University of California, Berkeley, indicating that successful investors possess two key characteristics: holding investments for the long term or avoiding excessive trading. Research indicates that low-frequency trading investors have an average return rate of approximately 18.5%, higher than the 11.4% of frequent traders. Recently, amid fluctuations in storage, optical communication, and AI-themed assets, many investors missed quick rebound opportunities due to stop-losses triggered by short-term declines. Serenity believes that investing requires a long-term conviction, and a strong investment logic can help investors avoid frequent trading and manage their positions and phased allocations more rationally during market adjustments. While this is not investment advice, historical experience suggests that reducing ineffective trades and maintaining patience may be crucial factors for retail investors to enhance long-term returns.
