Robinhood Emphasizes Blockchain Strategy Without Issuing Its Own Token
Robinhood has presented the structure of not issuing a separate coin as a strength in its own blockchain strategy. The trading platform creates a chain but does not have its own token, which reduces the possibility of business priorities being swayed by token prices. Johan Kerbrat, head of Robinhood's cryptocurrency and international division, stated in an interview, "Our key difference compared to other blockchains is that we have only issued the chain and not the coin." Kerbrat emphasized that "blockchain is pure technology and serves as the infrastructure supporting all new businesses," adding that there is no need to continuously adjust strategic priorities to maintain token price increases or stability. He mentioned that by not having a separate token, Robinhood can focus on using the chain as a financial services infrastructure. The Robinhood chain is a Layer 2 blockchain based on the Arbitrum platform, introduced as a network aimed at the tokenization of real assets and financial services. Robinhood has explained its chain strategy alongside stock tokens, wallets, and on-chain financial functions, noting that the scope of stock token offerings and regional usage conditions may vary according to service-specific notifications.
