Prediction Platform SafeBets Launches, Unicoin Faces SEC Lawsuit
The prediction market platform SafeBets has launched, allowing users to make predictions using free points, with correct predictions earning Unicoin token rewards. SafeBets is advised by blockchain pioneers Scott Stornetta and Stuart Haber, positioning itself as a "market research" platform to differentiate from competitors like Polymarket and Kalshi. Executive Director J. Tennyson Singer stated that the platform plans to monetize user prediction data by providing trading signals to brokers, having already attracted thousands of participants for World Cup events, with future expansions into political forecasting such as the U.S. elections. Unicoin Inc.'s quarterly report submitted to the SEC shows that SafeBets is wholly owned by Unicoin CEO Alex Konanykhin. Unicoin has been facing an SEC lawsuit since May 2025, accused of inflating fundraising amounts in token sales and falsely advertising its "SEC registered" status. Unicoin claims the allegations are "unfounded" and will vigorously defend itself. The Unicoin tokens awarded to winning users come from the entity involved in the lawsuit, and Unicoin is currently conducting equity financing at a price of $0.25 per share, targeting $20 million.
