OpenAI CFO Says Midterm Elections Will Not Affect IPO Plans
OpenAI's Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar stated on November 6 that while the 2026 U.S. midterm elections may change the political landscape in Congress, the company's IPO plans remain unaffected. Friar emphasized that the team's job is to prepare for various scenarios and believes that no single event will have a significant impact on the company. She reiterated OpenAI's goal to go public next year and revealed that the company will continue to invest in large data centers, striving to redefine them as "computing power parks" to meet customer demands and continue fundraising. Friar also mentioned that OpenAI is currently performing well, with a 70% increase in revenue for the third quarter and a doubling of enterprise sales. She looks forward to OpenAI's IPO, believing it aligns with the mission of making artificial intelligence accessible to everyone, and questioned, "Why should only institutions benefit from these gains?"
