Government Simplifies Advertising Requirements for Gambling and Online Betting

The Ministry of Economy has modified the conditions for advertising gambling and online betting in Argentina through Resolution 271/2026, signed by Secretary Pablo Agustín Lavigne. The measure updates the annex of Resolution 446/2025, which established guidelines on warnings about compulsive gambling. The decision responds to the fact that several provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires have their own regulations requiring the inclusion of warnings about the prohibition for minors. The resolution states that the coexistence of these local legends with national ones is redundant and affects the clarity of the advertising message. The new regulation establishes that compliance with provincial requirements will fulfill the national obligation, as long as the technical visibility standards are respected. Additionally, it allows regulatory bodies for gambling and betting to adhere to the terms of the measure. The annex maintains the obligation to include the warning 'gambling compulsively is harmful to health' and the legend '+18' in all advertising, occupying a horizontal space at the bottom of the announcement. These legends must be maintained continuously throughout the advertising piece. In content generated by influencers, the warning must be upheld while referencing participation in gambling sites. The resolution comes into effect today.
