Government Confirms 70,000 Bonus for Retirees in September 2026
The Government confirmed the payment of an extraordinary pension bonus of up to 70,000 during September 2026 for retirees, pensioners, and holders of social benefits from ANSES. The measure was formalized through decree 824/2026, published in the Official Gazette. The bonus will reach beneficiaries of the contributory system, the Universal Pension for the Elderly, and non-contributory pensions, as long as the benefits are active during the payment month. The bonus will be non-remunerative, not subject to deductions, and will not be computable for other concepts. A total of 70,000 will be paid to those receiving benefits equal to or less than the guaranteed minimum pension. Those exceeding this amount will receive an equivalent supplement to reach the cap. The bonus will be liquidated per holder, applying to each beneficiary. In pensions with co-participants, all will be considered as a single holder to determine the right to the bonus. Benefits must remain active during the payment month. The decree mentions changes in the pension mobility system and establishes monthly updates of pensions according to INDEC inflation. The last inflation measurement was 2.1% in July, suggesting a similar update for pensions. The minimum pension could rise to 428,591.11, reaching 498,591.11 with the bonus, although these values must be formalized. The aim of the supplement is to sustain the purchasing power of pension benefits.
