Besant and Wash Emphasize Global Economic Growth and Investment at G20 Meeting
Scott Besant, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, and Kevin Wash, the Chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve, emphasized the importance of global economic growth and increased investment at the G20 Finance Ministers' Meeting. Secretary Besant stated that the world is mired in debt and must escape this issue through growth. Chair Wash diagnosed that the era of 'long-term stagnation' has ended and a new period of 'long-term growth' has begun, characterizing the current situation as a 'surge in global investment.' The meeting is taking place in Asheville, North Carolina, where Secretary Besant stressed to reporters that 'the only way we can get out of this is through growth.' He also signaled that the U.S. growth objectives include moving beyond the war in Iran.
