Allegations of FOMO App Hacking Spark Controversy Over 662 SOL Transfer Records
After an iOS app update for the cryptocurrency trading app FOMO, claims have emerged that funds from Solana (SOL) wallets have been withdrawn, leading to growing controversy over the transfer records of 662 SOL. While on-chain transactions exist, it has not been proven that this transfer was due to a flaw in the FOMO app. FOMO co-founder Prashan Dharmasena refuted the wallet leak allegations on social media, stating that there are no transactions signed by FOMO's fee payer address associated with the problematic account. The Derivatives_Ape account claimed that malicious code entered the app immediately after the latest iOS update, resulting in the withdrawal of 662 SOL, approximately $62,000. Although the total claimed damage is $6 million, no list of victims or technical analysis has been presented. Protos confirmed that the transaction was real, but pointed out that whether this transfer was due to the FOMO app is a separate issue. FOMO explained its non-custodial structure, stating that the company cannot access or move user funds. The app remains available on the App Store, with the latest version indicating 'Small bug fixes.' Reactions have been mixed, with some recommending the app's deletion while others refuted the claims. The crux of the matter lies in distinguishing the responsibility of the FOMO app regarding the 662 SOL transfer records.
