Uli Latukefu to Play Ganondorf in Zelda Movie
Uli Latukefu will portray the villain Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda, the live-action film from Sony and Nintendo. Ganondorf is a sorcerer king seeking to dominate Hyrule, the land where Link and Princess Zelda reside. Latukefu has signed a contract for multiple films. Bo Bragason will play Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will portray Link. This is the first casting announcement since the lead characters were revealed in July. Sony announced in the fall of 2023 that it would distribute and co-finance the film, directed by Wes Ball, with Miyamoto and Avi Arad as producers. TS Nowlin wrote the screenplay. The premiere is scheduled for May 7, 2027. The Legend of Zelda franchise, created by Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, debuted in 1986 and has sold over 150 million units. The film is one of the most anticipated video game adaptations, following the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and A Minecraft Movie. Latukefu is known for his role in Young Rock and has appeared in Black Adam and Next Goal Wins.
