Ukrposhta Creates Aviation Security Service to Monitor International Shipments
Ukrposhta has established an aviation security service to monitor international shipments and detect prohibited items. The service does not involve acquiring its own aircraft or resuming air transport from Boryspil. Currently, the company utilizes 159 air routes and conducts international postal exchanges with 230 countries. Major flows pass through London, Frankfurt, Warsaw, Riga, and Chișinău. Over 90% of parcels are processed and sent abroad within 24 hours; however, inspections may delay shipments by 1-2 days. This creates risks for Ukrainian businesses, affecting delivery times and the competitiveness of goods. Specialists in the service have undergone training with the involvement of UNODC experts. The aviation security system is being developed in collaboration with the State Customs Service of Ukraine and does not replace customs control. Ukrposhta plans to invest in X-ray equipment and use artificial intelligence for risk analysis. The new system is expected to expedite the processing of shipments.
