Ukraine Changes Environmental Regulations for Enterprises

Ukraine is beginning the implementation of its climate policy with the launch of a national emissions trading system and the development of greenhouse gas monitoring. The press service of the Ministry of Economy reported on a Climate Breakfast where the requirements of Section 27 of the EU accession agreement and the impact of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on industry were discussed. Participants, including Deputy Minister Oleksandr Krasnolutskiy and ambassadors from the EU and Germany, discussed the implementation of state climate policy, negotiations for EU accession, the development of the emissions monitoring system, the impact of the CBAM mechanism, opportunities for climate financing, and the role of business in green renewal. Krasnolutskiy emphasized the need to transition to the practical implementation of climate policy as part of economic modernization and the approach to EU membership. Previously, Ukrainian companies were given the opportunity to earn from emission reductions through a UN program.
