Tyler Williams, Digital Asset Policy Official at the U.S. Treasury, Departs
On August 4, Tyler Williams, a senior official responsible for digital asset policy at the U.S. Treasury, has departed. He served as the primary cryptocurrency advisor to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and was involved in shaping the digital asset agenda during the Trump administration. Bessent confirmed that Williams's last day at the Treasury was last Friday. Williams joined the Treasury in early 2025, previously serving as the policy director at Galaxy Digital, and is expected to return to the private sector. At the time of Williams's departure, Congress remained deadlocked over the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at clarifying the digital asset market, which was stalled due to disagreements over federal officials' ethics provisions before the August recess for lawmakers.
