The blue dollar rose $45 in July, surpassing the official rate and inflation
The blue dollar fell $5 this Friday to $1,540 for buying and $1,560 for selling. Thus, it ended the month with a cumulative increase of $45, equivalent to a rise of nearly 3%. The parallel exchange rate once again surpassed both the evolution of the official dollar and the estimated inflation for the period, which the market places between 1.8% and 2.1%. This marks the second consecutive month in which the informal rate has outperformed both references. In contrast, the official wholesale dollar finished July at $1,485, having advanced only 0.2% during the month. The difference in performance between the two rates widened the exchange gap to 5.1%, reflecting a greater demand for coverage in the informal market, in a context of expectations regarding the evolution of the exchange rate for the second half of the year.
