Strategic Increases Bitcoin Purchase Capacity After Securing $4.8 Billion in Cash
The world's largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, Strategic, has increased its cash reserves and stabilized its preferred stock financial structure, thereby securing additional capacity for Bitcoin purchases. According to The Block on the 30th, StoneX and TD Cowen analyzed Strategic's Q3 performance, stating that the stabilization of the preferred stock structure and the expansion of liquidity could serve as a foundation for resuming Bitcoin purchases in the future. As of the end of Q3, Strategic's dollar assets amounted to $5.07 billion, of which cash reserves total $4.83 billion. This is sufficient to cover preferred stock dividends and debt interest for approximately 3.2 to 3.4 years. The company invested about $2 billion to purchase STRC preferred shares, resulting in the STRC price nearing its par value of $100. However, by prioritizing cash acquisition and stabilizing preferred stock prices, the amount of Bitcoin held per share has decreased by 3.7% this year. Shareholders of STRC, STRF, STRK, and STRD preferred stocks approved a proposal to change the dividend accumulation method to a daily basis this week. Mark Palmer, an analyst at StoneX, explained that this aims to reduce the volatility of preferred stock prices and expand liquidity and investment demand. TD Cowen projected that if the distribution and liquidity of preferred stocks improve, Strategic's ability to raise funds through digital credit products will also increase. On that day, Strategic's stock price traded down 8.7% at $129.90, reflecting a decline of about 27% year-to-date.
