Samara Weaving to Play Emma Frost in X-Men Reboot
Samara Weaving has been cast to portray Emma Frost in the reboot of the X-Men within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Emma Frost, a character who has alternated between supervillain and superhero in the comics, is known for her telepathic abilities. Weaving has appeared in films such as Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and Over Your Dead Body, and has credits in The Babysitter, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Scream VI, and Bill & Ted Face the Music. The direction of The X-Men will be handled by Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts last year. The mutant heroes from the 20th Century Fox films will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, alongside actors like Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and James Marsden. Disney acquired Fox in 2019, thereby obtaining the rights to integrate these characters into the MCU. This casting announcement comes after Ryan Gosling was introduced as Ghost Rider and David Jonsson as the new king of Wakanda in Black Panther 3 during Comic-Con. Despite being the most successful brand in cinema, Marvel has faced challenges at the box office with recent releases like Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has managed to gross $72 million in advance sales in the U.S., surpassing the record of $60 million set by Avengers: Endgame.
