National Bank of Ukraine Introduces 2000 Hryvnia Banknote
On September 4, the National Bank of Ukraine will introduce a new banknote denomination of 2000 hryvnias. The front side features the poet Vasyl Stus, while the reverse side depicts Donetsk National University. The banknote is designed in shades of purple, blue, and pink, incorporating modern security features. It is the world's first banknote with a unique AnimaTM Colour security ribbon that demonstrates a motion effect when the angle is changed. The NBU stated that the introduction of the new banknote will not increase the amount of money in the economy and will not affect inflation. The reason for introducing the new denomination is due to changes in the economy, including rising wages and prices. Since the issuance of the 1000 hryvnia banknote, the average monthly salary in Ukraine has tripled, while the price level has doubled. The introduction of the new banknote is expected to optimize the structure of cash circulation.
