Asian stock markets showed mixed trends on the 28th ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose by 0.5%, and Taiwan's stock market increased by 1.2%, while South Korea's KOSPI fell by 1.0% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped by 0.3%. The MSCI Asia-Pacific Index (excluding Japan) rose by 0.1%. Nvidia's strong performance revived some appetite for risk assets, but this did not spread evenly across the Asian markets. The Kansas City Federal Reserve will hold its annual economic policy symposium at Jackson Hole from the 27th to the 29th, with this year's theme being 'Financial Innovation: Implications for Payments and Policy.' The Fed Chair's remarks are seen as signals for the interest rate path and policy stance. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 3.4% year-on-year in July. The Fed kept the target range for the federal funds rate unchanged at 3.50% to 3.75% on July 29, with internal disagreements raising market caution. Chair Warsh's remarks will be broadcast at 10 AM Eastern Time on the 28th, and event materials will be posted on the Kansas City Fed's website.
