Jensen Huang Highlights AI Investment Outlook of $7.9 Trillion and Emphasizes Power Efficiency
Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, identified the expansion of computing resources and improvement of power efficiency as key challenges in the spread of AI. He explained that the amount of tokens processed by data centers affects corporate revenue and economic output. Morgan Stanley reported that CEO Huang mentioned, "Compute is like revenue." He described AI data centers as 'AI factories' that produce tokens. Tokens are the basic units of data processed or generated by AI models, where compute creates tokens, tokens generate intelligence, and intelligence leads to corporate revenue and economic output. Power supply was identified as a limiting factor for the expansion of AI infrastructure, and the token processing capacity per watt becomes a key indicator of data center productivity and corporate growth. The $7.9 trillion figure is not a direct forecast for the semiconductor industry size; McKinsey analyzed that such capital expenditure is necessary for an accelerated demand scenario where AI-related data center capacity increases by 205 GW from 2025 to 2030. It was suggested that to meet compute demand by 2030, an investment of $6.7 trillion is required. NVIDIA reported that in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, revenue reached $81.615 billion, an 85% increase compared to the same period last year, with data center revenue rising to $75.2 billion, a 92% increase.
