In August 2026, nearly UAH 16.8 billion in military tax was received in the special fund of the state budget. The total for July and August amounted to UAH 34.7 billion. The new procedure for collecting military tax has been in effect since July 1, 2026. All revenues from this tax are earmarked: payments to the military, and funds are directed exclusively to the salaries of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Other needs of the security sector are covered by other taxes, dividends from state enterprises, and funds from the placement of government bonds. The military tax, introduced in 2014, remains a key tool for mobilizing internal financial resources to support the army. Over the past seven months, Ukrainians have paid more than UAH 112 billion in military tax, with revenues increasing by 25.3% compared to the same period last year.
