Government Extends Preferential Loans to Farmers Due to Maritime Export Issues
The government is preparing to extend preferential lending and ease banking requirements for farmers due to complications in maritime exports. The decisions will ensure funding for the autumn sowing and preparation for the spring campaign of 2027. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy, together with other ministries and agricultural associations, is developing support mechanisms, including the extension of the "Affordable Loans 5-7-9%" program, the use of state guarantees, and the easing of banking requirements. The need for additional financing arose after the temporary suspension of vessel access to the ports of Greater Odessa due to Russian attacks. The government plans to use alternative routes for transporting agricultural products, including the Danube corridor and land routes. A program for preferential loans secured by grain for affected farmers is also being developed, which will help avoid forced sales of crops at reduced prices.
