Federal Reserve's Lack of Rate Action Benefits Emerging Markets
On July 30, Ajitabh Bharti, Executive Director of Capital XB, stated that the Federal Reserve's lack of decisive rate action may be related to political considerations. In his report, he pointed out that with the U.S. midterm elections approaching, the Federal Reserve may prioritize stabilizing the economy over controlling inflation in the short term. This dynamic could be beneficial for emerging markets like India, as a weaker dollar helps alleviate pressure on the rupee and provides breathing room for capital flows and external balances. However, if U.S. inflation continues or accelerates due to delayed policy actions, the eventual correction could be more severe, leading to greater volatility in global markets, including India.
