Dormant Bitcoin Wallet from 2011 Transfers 49.97 BTC Worth 3.23 Million
A Bitcoin address that had been inactive for over 14 years reactivated on August 6, 2026, transferring 49.97 BTC to a new wallet. The address, which began with '1EBz', first received Bitcoin on July 16, 2011, when BTC was valued under 15 dollars. The original acquisition cost was approximately 500 dollars, and at today's price of around 65000 dollars, the current value is 3.23 million dollars, reflecting a gain of 634347%. Following the transfer, the funds were sent to a FalconX-labeled wallet, indicating potential consolidation or preparation for sale. This event is part of a trend where dormant Bitcoin wallets are becoming active again, with significant movements occurring in recent years. For instance, a Satoshi-era wallet moved 11 million dollars after 12 years of inactivity in 2023. The metric 'Coin Days Destroyed' indicates that the movement of this Bitcoin erased over 5400 days of inactivity, signaling a significant change in ownership. The BTC remains in the receiving address as of Friday.
