DeepSeek Invests in Yu Tao's Startup, Valuation Reaches $200 Million
Former head of the humanoid robot foundational model at Zhujijidongli, Yu Tao, has left to start his own venture, focusing on the integration of LLM and embodied intelligence. His company achieved a valuation of $70 million in its first round and $200 million in its second round, with DeepSeek and a leading first-tier fund participating in the investment. Yu Tao holds a PhD from the University of Science and Technology of China and was a visiting scholar at the National University of Singapore. He previously served as a senior researcher at Tencent AI Lab's Juewu team, where he led the development of the full-body tracking system LimX WBT and the motion generation system. Recently, DeepSeek's founder Liang Wenfeng met with several entrepreneurs in embodied intelligence to assess options for building a team independently or investing in external startups. In August of this year, DeepSeek invested approximately 141 million yuan through a strategic placement in Yushu Technology's IPO, and Bloomberg has reported that it plans to lead an investment in Winverse AI, a robotics company founded by former Tencent AI scientist Hu Han.
