David Sacks Calls for Suspension of Anthropic IPO Until Investigation of Whistleblower Allegations

David Sacks, chair of the U.S. President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, stated that Anthropic's initial public offering must be paused until the allegations against a whistleblower are investigated. The whistleblower, former researcher Jacob Cockson, who worked on pre-training research at OpenAI, joined Anthropic in July 2026 but resigned in September. He posted on X warning that many within leading AI companies believe the technology could lead to human extinction within a decade, and that the two companies are irresponsibly racing towards self-improving superintelligence, effectively gambling with the lives of all humanity. Cockson left without vested equity, which typically requires six months to vest, thus forfeiting potential substantial stock gains. This incident comes as Anthropic has secretly submitted its IPO application, with a valuation nearing one trillion dollars.
