Coinbase CEO Optimistic About Clarity Act Passing with Over 60 Votes
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, expressed optimism that the Clarity Act will receive more than 60 votes in the U.S. Senate during the session on September 15. He evaluated that this bill addresses the protection of banks, cryptocurrency companies, and investors, strengthening the industrial foundation within the United States. CEO Armstrong explained that the bill was prepared through bipartisan discussions and will contribute to preventing illegal activities and empowering banks to expand their businesses. He mentioned that both sides achieved 90% of what they wanted in negotiations and highlighted the increased likelihood of passage due to Senate Republican Leader John Thune scheduling a vote. Additionally, he positively noted the regulatory direction of the SEC and CFTC, stating that rules for cryptocurrency securities and tokenized stock trading are being established. CEO Armstrong emphasized that the reliance on spot Bitcoin trading has decreased, while cryptocurrency derivatives and stablecoin payments have grown. He projected growth in the area of AgTech Finance (AIFI) and underscored the importance of ethical issues and consumer protection.
