Broadcom Announces Collaboration with OpenAI on 10GW AI Accelerator

Broadcom is expanding its AI infrastructure supply chain by announcing a long-term collaboration with OpenAI, Google, and Meta for AI chips. On October 13, 2025, OpenAI and Broadcom will unveil a collaboration for a customized 10GW AI accelerator, with deployment starting in the second half of 2026 and completion planned by the end of 2029. OpenAI described this collaboration as complementary to existing NVIDIA hardware. The first 'intelligence processor', named 'Jalapeño', is set to be revealed on June 24, 2026. Broadcom has signed a long-term contract with Google for the development and supply of next-generation Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), aiming to provide components needed for Google's next-generation AI racks by 2031. Anthropic is expected to access 3.5GW of TPU-based AI computing capacity through Broadcom starting in 2027. Meta is co-developing next-generation MTIA chips with Broadcom, with an initial commitment exceeding 1GW. Broadcom's AI semiconductor revenue reached $10.8 billion in the second quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, marking a 143% increase compared to the same period last year. Following the announcement from OpenAI, Broadcom's stock price surged by over 10%.
