Bitcoin's Net Realized Profit Turns Positive at $176.5 Million
Bitcoin (BTC) investors' net realized profit (NRPL) has turned positive at $176.5 million (approximately 236.1 billion KRW). This indicates that there are more profit-taking transactions than loss-confirming sales. According to CryptoQuant, as of September 10, the BTC NRPL returned to positive territory. NRPL is an indicator that aggregates the difference between the actual profits and losses realized by investors by comparing the previous transaction price of coins moved on-chain with their current transaction price. A positive NRPL means that the amount of profit realized is greater than the amount of losses confirmed. This transition to positive shows that investor behavior has shifted from focusing on loss confirmation to profit realization. However, it is difficult to determine market direction based solely on a single point of positive transition. This year, BTC NRPL has recorded significant negatives multiple times, and in some periods, daily net realized losses have expanded to billions of dollars. Similar trends have been observed in the past, where NRPL remained in negative territory for an extended period before reducing losses and turning positive. Market analysis account Wealth Manager noted that historically, during such periods, the market has transitioned back to profit realization and momentum has begun to form. It is essential to examine both the direction of change and market demand alongside the absolute level of NRPL, focusing on whether the positive amount continues to expand and if there is sustained spot demand to absorb the profit-taking volume. This change signals the possibility that the BTC market has moved away from the loss-confirmation phase, but it is not a definitive indicator of a resumption of an upward trend.
