Bill on 'Hellish' Sanctions Against Russia to Be Passed in September

Blumenthal noted that exemptions in the bill would spare European allies from tariffs. He also urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to pressure House members to support the bill. On August 7, the U.S. Senate backed the sanctions bill against Russia and Iran, with 86 senators voting in favor and 11 against. The bill allows for the imposition of 100% secondary tariffs against countries that continue to purchase Russian oil and gas, primarily targeting China and India.
