Balancer Proposal Extends v2 Theft Fund Claim Window to 12 Months
Balancer is voting on whether to extend the fund claim window for victims of the v2 vulnerability incident in November 2025 by 6 months, from 180 days to 12 months, with approximately $920,000 (around 500 ETH) still awaiting claims. The existing claim contract remains unchanged, and eligible victims can continue to claim according to the original allocation plan. The team stated that the largest unclaimed funds correspond to known smart contract addresses. The refunds provided by Ethena and ShapeShift due to the protocol being hacked are 12,518 USDe and 133,905 USDC, respectively, and are still held in the DAO multi-signature wallet, not yet included in the claim contract. The distribution of these funds and other unclaimed assets will be decided by the end of 2026. As of the time of publication, 4 wallet addresses have cast a total of 3,870,936 BAL votes, with 100% in favor, but only reaching 77.4% of the 5 million BAL legal voting threshold. Voting will close on August 26 at 2:00 AM.
