Apollo Cloud Platform Confirms Data Breach
Unauthorized access occurred on Apollo Global Management's cloud platform from July 6 to July 10, raising concerns about potential exposure of personal information. The exposed information includes names, dates of birth, addresses, contact numbers, and Social Security numbers. According to a sample breach notification submitted to the California Department of Justice, the date of the breach is recorded as July 6, 2026. After confirming the unauthorized access, Apollo notified law enforcement and engaged external cybersecurity experts. The company is providing identity protection and credit monitoring services to affected individuals. It appears that access was gained through a social engineering attack, which could allow internal system access due to employee mistakes even in a multi-authentication environment. Apollo stated that there is no evidence that the exposed information has been publicly posted or used for fraud. This incident occurred amid a wave of attacks targeting U.S. financial firms, with Google security researchers reporting ongoing social engineering attacks aimed at employees of financial and investment companies. Apollo is a well-known name among domestic investors and has participated in discussions regarding NVIDIA's AI infrastructure financial platform.
