72.9% of Solana Leader Slots Allocated to Europe, with Germany at 36.1%
72.9% of Solana (SOL) leader slots have been allocated to Europe, with Germany accounting for the largest share at 36.1%. The Netherlands and the United States recorded 19.6% and 15.2%, respectively. By city, Frankfurt has a share of 35.3%, while Amsterdam has 19.4%, bringing the combined share of the two cities to 54.7%. Leader slots refer to the turn of specific validators to generate blocks, and the allocation share may vary based on the amount of staked SOL. Validators in Frankfurt and Amsterdam make up 310 out of a total of 675, representing 46%, and account for 53% based on staking volume. The average latency in Frankfurt is 72 milliseconds, shorter than the 140 milliseconds in the Eastern United States, allowing for rapid information exchange among validators. The Solana Foundation mentioned Germany as a key data center region in its 2025 report, noting that regional concentration can lead to both operational efficiency and vulnerability. The introduction of DoubleZero technology aims to help validators maintain network performance without concentrating in specific cities. However, based on current aggregations, it is difficult to assess how regional concentration has changed since the introduction of DoubleZero.
